MI State Championship Results, News, and Weekly Challenge Updates

Firstly, we'd like to extend our gratitude to Brian Shotton, co-owner of MegaCon Games and creator MERCS. Brian spent several hours travelling to the Championship, even skipping out on PAX East to do so! We greatly appreciate his community involvment and support. Brian contributed some awesome prize support, including an EU Inc. starter for first edition (there are less than 30 of these in the world!), a new copy of MERCS conflict, and tons of T-shirts! Brian even let us have a sit-down with us and entertained almost every question we asked regarding the new edition of MERCS. Expect more on this soon!

-This Week's Challenges-

Lets start out with the Challenge between Scott H. and JoBo. This was a battle that both needed to settle. The last match-up ended in a tie which neither player was content with.

An arduous battle from start to finish, JoBo was able to pull off the win with a final, well placed sniper shot. It was a hard fought battle and both guys walked off the field feeling relieved that it was finally over. This was the only challenge to hit this week, but challenge forms are already starting to fly in!

-Michigan State Championship Results-

Michigan's First State Champion: Scott Hohentanner

Congratulations to Scott for taking the first ever Michigan MERCS State Championship win! The road was long, 24 players and 5 matches, and it all came down to the final match of Scott's Sefeau vs Kyle's Sefadu. The battle seemed pretty even until Scott managed to take the upper hand on the 4th turn and was able to hold onto it until the end of the game. It was a fun and exciting day and we hope to have another championship later this year at a convention in Michigan.

The Standings
